ASCO and Google Cloud Launch AI Tool for Oncology Guidelines
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and Google Cloud have announced a collaboration to launch an AI-based ASCO Guidelines Assistant. Announced in a press release, this tool is designed to provide oncology professionals with faster and more interactive access to ASCO's evidence-based clinical guidelines.
Developed using Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform and Gemini models, the ASCO Guidelines Assistant aims to transform how clinicians access critical clinical recommendations. It offers a dynamic user experience, allowing clinicians to ask follow-up questions and integrate expert information into patient care plans seamlessly.
The tool addresses the urgent need for reliable and timely information in oncology, especially given the increasing complexity of cancer treatment and the projected shortage of oncologists. By drawing solely from ASCO's published clinical practice guidelines, the tool ensures accuracy and trustworthiness, providing clear citations and sources for all information delivered.
The ASCO Guidelines Assistant is now available to all ASCO members, marking a significant step in ASCO's initiative to responsibly harness AI capabilities to support oncology professionals and improve cancer care.
