AstraZeneca and Oracle will combine clinical expertise, health data, cloud infrastructure, and AI to support trial recruitment, diagnosis, safety monitoring, and care workflows.

AstraZeneca and Oracle Corporation announced in a press release a global collaboration that will use AI, cloud infrastructure, and real world health data to support clinical research and care workflows. The companies will explore clinical trial recruitment, earlier diagnosis, drug safety monitoring, and the use of real world evidence across the lifecycle of medicines.

Projects will cover oncology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases, respiratory and immunology, and rare diseases. The collaboration will include work in the US, Middle East, and Europe, subject to local regulations and government involvement.

The first program will focus on hypertension care and clinical research in Abu Dhabi with healthcare company M42. It will help clinical teams identify patients with uncontrolled hypertension, apply guideline directed care, and recruit participants for clinical trials.

The companies signed a nonbinding term sheet and did not disclose financial details. Projects will use deidentified data under privacy, security, legal, regulatory, ethical, and institutional safeguards. AstraZeneca will not receive information that identifies patients.
