Apple to Enhance Vision Pro with AI Features and Spatial Content
Apple is set to enhance its Vision Pro headset with new AI features and a spatial content app, according to Bloomberg. The updates will be part of the visionOS 2.4 software upgrade, expected to roll out as early as April.
The Vision Pro will incorporate Apple Intelligence, featuring tools like the Writing Tools interface, Genmojis, and the Image Playground app. This marks the first time Apple is expanding its AI tools from its other devices like the iPhone and iPad to the Vision Pro. The headset's Mac M2 chip and 16GB of memory will support on-device AI processing.
Additionally, Apple is introducing a new app for viewing spatial content, including 3D images and panoramas, to boost interest in the device. The update will also include a revamped guest user mode, allowing users to lend their headset more easily by controlling access via an iPhone.
These enhancements come as Apple seeks to revitalize interest in the Vision Pro, which has seen limited sales since its launch. The company aims to compete with Google's upcoming mixed-reality operating system, Android XR, which integrates its Gemini AI platform.
