Amazon is rolling out a text messaging interface for Alexa that lets selected US customers search for products, add items to a cart and make purchases using natural language, according to TechCrunch. Customers with access will receive a text inviting them to enable the shopping feature.

Alexa can compare products, track prices, manage lists, check orders and search across the web. Customers can also send a photo of an item or outfit to find similar products on Amazon.

The launch follows Amazon's move in September to block Meta's Muse agent from querying its site. Customers without an invitation can join a waitlist, with wider availability planned in the coming weeks.
