Amazon Introduces Nova Act AI Agent for Web Browsing
Amazon has introduced Nova Act, a new AI agent designed to autonomously control web browsers and perform tasks, . This release includes the Nova Act SDK, a toolkit that allows developers to build agent prototypes using the new AI model.
Developed by Amazon's AGI lab in San Francisco, Nova Act is part of the company's broader Nova AI initiative. The AI agent is designed to automate simple tasks such as ordering food or making reservations, and it will also power features in the upcoming Alexa+ upgrade. Developers can access the Nova Act toolkit on nova.amazon.com, which showcases Amazon's various Nova foundation models.
Amazon claims that Nova Act outperforms similar agents from competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic in internal tests. The AI agent is engineered to handle complex web interface elements, such as drop-down menus and pop-up dialogs, without relying on APIs. This capability positions Amazon to compete in the growing market for AI agents that can navigate the web for users.
The Nova Act SDK is available as a Python software package, enabling developers to create agents that follow natural-language instructions to complete tasks in a web browser. This release marks a significant step in Amazon's efforts to develop reliable AI agents capable of automating tasks across digital environments.
