Alphabet takes $548 million stake in Qualcomm
Alphabet held nearly 3 million Qualcomm shares worth about $547.9 million as of September 30, 2026, according to Tech Startups. The company established the position during the third quarter.
The investment comes as Qualcomm expands beyond smartphone processors into chips for AI data centers. Qualcomm is targeting $15 billion in annual data center chip revenue by 2029 and has received orders from Microsoft and Meta.
Alphabet and Qualcomm already work together across Android devices, laptops and automotive technology. Alphabet also develops its own AI chips through Google's Tensor Processing Unit program, and the filing did not connect the investment to Qualcomm's data center plans.
