UPS and Figure AI Discuss Humanoid Robot Deployment
UPS is reportedly in discussions with robotics startup Figure AI to explore the use of humanoid robots within its logistics network. According to sources, the talks have been ongoing since last year, although the specific tasks these robots would perform have not been disclosed.
The potential partnership comes as UPS continues to advance its automation efforts, already employing fixed robotic arms and AI-driven software in its high-tech facilities. Figure AI, known for its humanoid robots, has previously showcased its technology in a video where robots sorted parcels on a conveyor belt.
While UPS has not confirmed any specific vendor partnerships, it has stated that it regularly explores a wide range of technologies, including robotics, to enhance its operations. Figure AI, meanwhile, has been actively expanding its capabilities, having raised $675 million in a Series B funding round and collaborating with OpenAI and Microsoft to develop AI models for humanoid robots.
