University of Utah Partners with HPE and NVIDIA for AI Research

The University of Utah is collaborating with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA to enhance AI research capabilities, focusing on medical breakthroughs and mental health.

The University of Utah is set to enhance its AI research capabilities through a new partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA, announced in a press release. This collaboration aims to accelerate research in areas such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, mental health, and genetics by significantly increasing the university's computing power.

The initiative involves a $50 million investment from both public and philanthropic sources, which will increase the university's computing capacity by 3.5 times. The project will build a scalable AI ecosystem to support researchers, learners, and entrepreneurs across Utah. The Huntsman Family Foundation is providing a lead philanthropic gift to kickstart the project, with additional funding sought from the state and other sources.

This AI initiative is expected to drive significant advancements in medical research, particularly in cancer and mental health. The Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Huntsman Mental Health Institute will play key roles in utilizing the enhanced AI capabilities to speed up discoveries and improve research outcomes.
