Tata Communications has acquired a 51% stake in Commotion Inc. to accelerate AI integration across its Digital Fabric offerings, enhancing its customer interaction platforms, including Kaleyra, with advanced AI capabilities.

Tata Communications announced in a press release that it has acquired a 51% stake in Commotion Inc., an AI-native enterprise SaaS platform with operations in the US and India. The acquisition aims to strengthen AI integration across Tata Communications' Digital Fabric offerings, particularly within its Customer Interaction Suite, which includes Tata Communications Kaleyra.

Commotion’s orchestration engine will be integrated with Kaleyra’s components such as channels, TX Hub, and CCaaS to automate and guide end-to-end customer journeys. The integration is designed to shift engagement models from reactive to predictive and generative interactions.

Commotion’s platform combines Voice AI, an Agentic AI Builder, and Omnichannel Journey Orchestration to support real-time, personalized engagement and enterprise automation. The company’s technology focuses on omnichannel customer experience automation, ultra-low latency voice AI, and autonomous digital agents for both customer-facing and internal operations.

The acquisition will be executed as a cash-only transaction through a stock purchase agreement, marking a step in Tata Communications’ strategy to accelerate its transition toward becoming an AI-first organization.
