SLB to Acquire Tachyus to Expand AI in Reservoir Management
SLB intends to acquire Tachyus, a company known for AI and physics-based reservoir management and emissions management software, according to a press release.
Founded in 2014, Tachyus offers solutions such as Aqueon for reservoir optimization and Aurion for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and reporting. Its Data Physics approach combines machine learning, reservoir physics, and operational data to create predictive models that support field decision making.
The acquisition will integrate Tachyus' modeling and optimization technologies into SLB's digital ecosystem. SLB plans to use these capabilities to enhance its production optimization and reservoir management portfolio, enabling faster model creation, what-if analysis, and continuously updated decision support workflows.
Tachyus' tools are used across various recovery processes including waterfloods, steamfloods, gas injection, and CO₂ enhanced oil recovery. The companies expect the transaction to help deliver continuously learning reservoir systems that connect operational data with predictive models to improve performance and reduce costs.
