Siemens Gamesa Partners with DCAI to Use Gefion Supercomputer for Industrial AI in Wind Energy

November 27, 2025
Siemens Gamesa has joined forces with the Danish Centre for AI Innovation to leverage Denmark's Gefion supercomputer for large-scale industrial AI applications in wind energy optimization.

In a press release, the Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI) announced a collaboration with Siemens Gamesa to launch Denmark's first sovereign industrial AI program powered by the Gefion supercomputer. The initiative aims to apply large-scale AI to optimize wind energy systems and advance the country's green transition.

The first project under the partnership will focus on using AI and machine learning to enhance wind farm efficiency. Engineers will use Gefion’s computing capabilities to analyze wind farms in minutes, predict energy losses through AI-based airflow models, and improve maintenance via condition monitoring. These efforts are expected to reduce downtime, lower costs, and increase energy production.

Gefion, operated by DCAI, is hosted entirely in Denmark and powered by NVIDIA DGX systems and the WEKA data platform. The infrastructure offers high-performance training and inference for industrial AI workloads while maintaining full data sovereignty and energy-efficient operations. DCAI CEO Nadia Carlsten said the collaboration demonstrates how industrial AI is transforming infrastructure performance and innovation.

The partnership positions Denmark as a key player in industrial AI adoption, with Siemens Gamesa leveraging Gefion’s power to refine turbine design and operational efficiency in support of renewable energy goals.
