Saudi Arabia Partners with Paradromics for Brain-Computer Interface Development
Saudi Arabia's Neom project has partnered with Paradromics, a brain-computer interface (BCI) startup, to advance neurotechnology healthcare. Announced on Neom's website, this strategic partnership will establish a Brain-Computer Interface Center of Excellence within Neom, aiming to spearhead clinical research and BCI-based healthcare in the MENA region.
Paradromics, known for its high-data rate BCI technology, plans to use this collaboration to develop therapies that restore or enhance neurological functions. The company is set to begin human clinical trials in the US this year, with potential expansion to Saudi Arabia. The partnership is part of Neom's broader strategy to invest in transformative technologies and redefine the future of healthcare.
The collaboration comes amid Saudi Arabia's efforts to diversify its economy and invest in innovative technologies. Paradromics' initial focus is on restoring communication for individuals with conditions like spinal cord injuries and ALS, with future applications targeting mental health treatments.
