Salt Security Report Highlights API Security Risks in AI Deployments
Salt Security has released its semi-annual State of API Security Report, revealing critical vulnerabilities in API security that could jeopardize AI and automation initiatives. The report, announced in a press release, highlights a concerning gap between the rapid adoption of APIs and the maturity of security practices.
The study, which surveyed 386 professionals responsible for managing APIs, found that 80% of organizations lack continuous, real-time API monitoring, leaving them vulnerable to threats targeting AI agents. Additionally, 33% of companies experienced an API security incident in the past year, and 50% had to delay new application rollouts due to security concerns.
Eric Schwake, Director of Cyber Security Strategy at Salt Security, emphasized the importance of robust API security, stating that without it, governing AI is akin to "driving a car blindfolded." The report urges organizations to adopt a holistic security strategy that includes continuous API discovery and stronger governance to safely harness AI-driven innovation.
