Rain Launches Agentic Payments Alliance With Visa and Mastercard
Rain announced in a press release the launch of the Agentic Payments Alliance, a coalition of more than 25 organizations focused on commerce handled by AI agents. Founding members include Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, Solana, and Remitly.
The alliance will work on shared research and frameworks, testing standards for agent identity and authorization, and regulatory questions tied to agentic commerce. It will be run collectively by its founding members rather than by one company.
Rain said the group follows work on its Agent Control Layer and Scoped Cards, which give AI agents payment credentials with defined limits. Founding members will also receive early access to Rain's Agentic Startup Program, whose first cohort of five startups will present at a demo day for alliance members.
