London Startup Qalzy Raises Pre-Seed Funding After €204K in Kickstarter Pre-Orders
London-based startup Qalzy has raised a pre-seed round led by Jenson Ventures after securing €204,000 in Kickstarter pre-orders for its AI-powered nutrition scale, reports EU-Startups. The funding will be used to enhance its AI food-recognition capabilities and support its international launch.
Founded in 2023 by former Microsoft engineers, Qalzy develops a kitchen scale that combines precise weighing with AI-based visual recognition. The device can identify, weigh, and log food items automatically through a connected app. According to the company, the technology aims to simplify meal tracking by reducing the time and manual input required by traditional calorie-counting tools.
The AI system has been trained on millions of ingredient images and continues to improve through user corrections. The scale weighs approximately 700 grams, offers a 10-hour battery life, and charges via USB-C. Qalzy also operates an online nutrition support group with over 427,000 members and plans to use the new funding to expand production and begin its global rollout.
