OpenAI Prepares for GPT-5 Launch Amid Potential Capacity Challenges
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced that the company is gearing up for the release of several new models and features, including the anticipated GPT-5. In a recent post on X, Altman acknowledged that these launches might result in "probable hiccups and capacity crunches" as the company navigates the rollout process.
The GPT-5 model is expected to introduce advanced capabilities, such as unified reasoning, which will eliminate the need for users to select specific reasoning models for complex tasks. Additionally, OpenAI plans to release its first open-weights model this month, further expanding its offerings.
Altman also highlighted that GPT-5 will be available at different intelligence levels for various user tiers, with free tier users receiving unlimited chats at the standard setting, while ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers will have access to higher intelligence levels.
