OpenAI Countersues Elon Musk Over Alleged Harassment
OpenAI has filed a countersuit against Elon Musk, accusing him of harassment and requesting a federal judge to stop Musk from any "further unlawful and unfair action" against the company. This legal move comes amid an ongoing court case concerning OpenAI's transition to a for-profit model, reports Reuters.
The countersuit alleges that Musk has engaged in a pattern of harassment, including press attacks and legal claims, aimed at disrupting OpenAI's operations. OpenAI's filing also seeks to hold Musk accountable for the damage they claim he has already caused. The legal battle is set to proceed to a jury trial in spring 2026.
Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but left before its rise as a technology leader, has been critical of the company's shift from its original nonprofit mission. He has previously attempted to block OpenAI's transition to a for-profit structure, which the company argues is necessary to secure funding and remain competitive in the AI industry.
