Nira Medical and Rocky Mountain MS Clinic Unveil AI-Powered MS Registry

September 24, 2025
Nira Medical and the Rocky Mountain MS Clinic have introduced an AI-driven approach to building a comprehensive multiple sclerosis registry, as announced in a press release.

Nira Medical and the Rocky Mountain MS Clinic have announced the presentation of a pioneering AI-powered multiple sclerosis (MS) registry at the 2025 European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress. Announced in a press release, this initiative aims to transform fragmented electronic health record (EHR) data into a comprehensive, scalable registry to advance MS research and care.

The project employs the Century Health Abstraction and Retrieval Model (CHARM), a large language model fine-tuned for MS-specific clinical data. This model has been applied to a cohort of over 4,200 patients from the Rocky Mountain MS Clinic, enabling the accurate abstraction of critical clinical variables from unstructured EHR data. Key findings include the successful abstraction of EDSS scores in over 97% of visits and insights into MS subtypes, treatment history, and imaging patterns.

This AI-driven method significantly reduces the time required for manual data work, allowing for the creation of larger, more representative MS registries. These registries can accelerate drug development, improve clinical trial design, and enhance patient care by providing high-fidelity insights into treatment outcomes and disease progression.
