Mousterian and Samsung Heavy Industries Sign Floating Data Center Engineering Contract

Mousterian Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries signed an engineering contract for their first moored floating data center deployment in the United States. The planned units will each provide 50 megawatts of critical IT capacity for AI compute.

Mousterian Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries said in a press release that they signed an engineering contract for their first moored floating data center deployment in the United States. The agreement was executed at a signing ceremony on July 22, 2026.

Under the contract, the companies will work on basic design, detailed engineering, and production design for floating data center units. Each unit is planned to deliver 50 megawatts of critical IT capacity, with deployments planned for Texas and other U.S. markets.

The engineering work will set the technical basis for a planned Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract. The companies said the American Bureau of Shipping is expected to serve as classification society for the project.

The design uses bulk cooling that does not evaporate water, consumes no potable water, and returns no process discharge to the surrounding waterway. The facilities are intended to support dense AI compute using liquid cooling.
