Leo Cancer Care Receives CE Mark for Upright Radiotherapy System Marie
Leo Cancer Care has received CE marking for its Marie upright radiotherapy system, announced in a press release. The certification permits commercial deployment across Europe, bringing upright radiotherapy into clinical practice after gaining experience in the United States.
Marie enables patients to receive radiotherapy in an upright position rather than lying flat, aiming to simplify treatment room design and improve workflow efficiency. The system is compatible with multiple particle therapy modalities and supports adaptive and arc therapy.
Following the approval, Leo Cancer Care is expanding its collaboration with Centre Léon Bérard in France to study anatomical imaging and positioning in the upright orientation. The first European installation is underway at the Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica (CNAO) in Italy, with treatments expected to begin before the end of the year.
The company is also working with other cancer centers across Europe to introduce the technology, which is designed to improve treatment precision and patient comfort.
