LangChain Raises $125 Million, Becomes a Unicorn at $1.25 Billion Valuation
LangChain has raised $125 million in Series B funding at a $1.25 billion valuation, according to Fortune. The round was led by IVP, with participation from Sequoia, Benchmark, CapitalG, Sapphire Ventures, ServiceNow Ventures, Workday Ventures, Cisco Investments, Datadog, Databricks, and Frontline.
Founded in late 2022 by Harrison Chase and Ankush Gola, LangChain began as an open-source framework that connects large language models to external data and tools. Its software allows developers to create AI agents capable of reasoning, taking actions, and integrating with real-time data sources. The company also offers LangSmith, a proprietary platform for monitoring, evaluating, and deploying AI applications.
LangChain has expanded its product portfolio with open-source tools such as LangGraph, for building long-running AI agents, and Deep Agents, which enables multi-step reasoning and sub-agent creation. These tools aim to make AI agent development more reliable and scalable for enterprises.
The company’s frameworks are already used by enterprise clients including Cisco, Replit, Clay, Cloudflare, Workday, and ServiceNow. LangChain said it is not yet profitable but maintains efficient spending compared with other venture-backed startups.
