May 29, 2026
Labcorp has partnered with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology to support a national study evaluating ways to expand genetic testing for colorectal cancer patients and their families, with support from the National Cancer Institute.

Labcorp has partnered with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology to support a national multicenter clinical trial focused on genetic testing in colorectal cancer, announced in a press release. The study is sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and will involve sites across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The trial will evaluate methods to increase germline genetic testing among family members of patients newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer. It will also assess the clinical impact of broader multigene panel testing on patient care. Labcorp will serve as the exclusive provider of genetic testing for the study, using its Invitae testing platform.

Researchers will examine whether proactive outreach from healthcare providers can raise participation rates among at-risk relatives, compared to the traditional approach of relying on patients to share genetic risk information. The study will also measure how multigene panel results influence treatment planning for patients.

The trial is being conducted through the National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network, which includes academic medical centers, community oncology systems, and NCI-designated cancer centers.
