Ironclad Survey Finds 99% of Lawyers Trust AI as Legal Roles Expand
Ironclad announced in a press release that 99% of lawyers now trust using AI in their work as expectations on legal teams continue to grow. The report found that 92% of respondents currently use AI for legal tasks, up from 69% in 2025.
According to the findings, 94% of those using AI apply it to contract specific work, such as reviewing agreements and accelerating decision making. Nearly all respondents reported measurable business benefits, including faster responses to stakeholders, quicker contract turnaround times, and reduced reliance on outside counsel.
The survey also showed that 96% of legal professionals believe their organizations now expect more from them compared to two years ago, while 95% said AI has increased their value beyond traditional legal expertise. Most participants indicated they now spend more time on complex and strategic tasks.
Despite the growth in adoption, 96% of respondents said they would use AI more extensively if accountability for errors were more clearly defined. The report also noted that 82% view legal’s AI adoption as ahead of other departments within their organizations.
