Ironclad Founder Jason Boehmig Joins OpenAI to Lead Legal Product Development
OpenAI has hired Jason Boehmig, founder and former CEO of Ironclad, to lead product development for the legal sector, according to LawNext.
Boehmig announced his new role in a LinkedIn post, describing it as his first day at OpenAI as head of product for the legal vertical. He previously worked as a corporate attorney at Fenwick & West before founding Ironclad in 2014. The company, which provides contract management software, grew to a valuation of 3.2 billion dollars before Boehmig stepped down as CEO in 2025. He remains Ironclad's executive chairman and a member of its board.
In his post, Boehmig reflected on his time building Ironclad and expressed enthusiasm about advancing AI applications in the legal field. He stated that he plans to collaborate with legal professionals and technology builders to develop AI tools that assist the broader legal ecosystem.
The move comes as major AI companies expand into the legal technology market, with competitors such as Anthropic recently introducing new integrations and plugins for law firms and legal departments.
