Injini Opens Applications for Southern Africa AI Education Program

Injini is accepting applications for an eight month program that will help 12 teams build and test AI education products for African classrooms. Five teams will advance to incubation and receive $25,000 each.

Injini opened applications for its AI for Education Venture Builder and Incubation Program on September 7, as detailed on its program website. The eight month initiative, supported by Coefficient Giving, will select 12 teams from nine Southern African countries.

All 12 teams will complete a five month venture building phase covering problem validation, technical design, product creation and user testing. The top five will enter a three month incubation phase focused on market strategy, financial models, product refinement and investment preparation. Each of those five teams will receive an equity free grant of $25,000.

Applicants must apply in teams of at least two and be based in South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia or Zimbabwe. Proposed products must include a meaningful role for AI and address African education needs. Applications close at midnight on September 27, with selected teams due to be announced on October 21.
