Microsoft and Public Library Association Offer Free AI Training
Microsoft and the Public Library Association are introducing free AI literacy and skills training for public library workers and patrons across the United States, Microsoft detailed in a company blog post. The program, called Building AI Skills and Agency Through Libraries, combines Microsoft training resources with the association's network of library professionals.
The initiative will provide practical resources, free webinars, guidance, and a Community of Practice where library workers can learn from one another. Training will cover how AI works, when to use it, and how to assess generated claims and sources.
The training will also cover evaluating risks, protecting personal and confidential information, and considerations related to safety and bias. The program is part of Microsoft's Community First AI Infrastructure initiative, which funds local AI training through libraries, schools, nonprofits, and small businesses.
