Infinite Reality Acquires Napster for $207 Million
Infinite Reality has acquired the iconic music service Napster for $207 million, announced in a press release. The acquisition aims to transform Napster from a traditional streaming service into a social and interactive music platform. Infinite Reality plans to leverage its immersive technology and AI-powered tools to enhance artist-fan engagement and monetization.
Napster, known for its pioneering role in digital music distribution, will now offer artists the ability to create branded 3D virtual spaces for virtual concerts and social listening parties. The platform will also enable the sale of both physical and virtual merchandise, exclusive digital content, and event tickets. Additionally, artists will have access to AI-powered customer service and enhanced analytics dashboards to better understand fan behavior.
Jon Vlassopulos, who will continue as CEO of Napster, will also take on a broader role within Infinite Reality. Vlassopulos has a history of driving innovation in artist-fan engagement, having previously worked at Roblox. The acquisition marks a significant step in Infinite Reality's vision to lead the shift from a 2D web to a 3D conversational internet, providing modern tools for creators to engage and monetize their audiences.
