IBM Joins OpenAI Daybreak Program to Enhance Cyber Defense

IBM has joined the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, bringing advanced AI capabilities into enterprise security operations according to a press release. As part of the collaboration, IBM introduced a new application security service that uses OpenAI’s models to identify and validate software vulnerabilities more quickly and accurately.

The new service extends beyond traditional code scanning by using AI to assess application code and prioritize areas most likely to contain exploitable flaws. It operates within a client’s environment under read-only access and bounded execution, allowing large-scale exposure analysis while maintaining control and security.

The offering is delivered as a managed service, enabling organizations to start with targeted evaluations and expand to continuous risk monitoring as codebases evolve. The service is integrated with IBM Consulting Advantage, which connects client systems to AI tools in a controlled and governed manner.

IBM’s participation in the Daybreak Cyber Partner Program builds on its Project Lightwell initiative, which focuses on securing the software supply chain using AI. The new service is available beginning June 22, 2026, with further integrations planned under the program.
