Hugging Face Introduces Affordable 3D-Printed Robotic Arm
Hugging Face has launched the SO-101, a programmable and 3D-printable robotic arm, starting at $100. The arm, developed in collaboration with The Robot Studio, WowRobo, Seeed Studio, and PartaBot, is designed for object manipulation and basic tasks. It features improved motors for easier assembly and a camera for reinforcement learning, allowing it to perform tasks like picking up and placing objects.
The SO-101 is an upgrade from the previous model, the SO-100, and offers a price range from $100 to $500, depending on assembly and shipping costs. The arm is part of Hugging Face's expanding robotics efforts, which include the recent acquisition of Pollen Robotics. This acquisition aims to enhance their robotics division by integrating Pollen's humanoid robot, Reachy 2, into their ecosystem.
