HiddenLayer Report Highlights Rising AI Breaches and Security Challenges
HiddenLayer has released its second annual AI Threat Landscape Report, revealing a concerning rise in AI breaches. According to the report, 74% of organizations experienced an AI-related security breach in 2024, up from 67% the previous year. This highlights the urgent need for companies to bolster their AI security measures announced in a press release.
The report, which surveyed 250 IT leaders, underscores the critical role of AI in business innovation, with 89% of respondents stating that AI models are essential to their organization's success. Despite this, security teams are struggling to keep pace, dedicating nearly half of their time to mitigating AI risks. Encouragingly, 96% of companies have increased their AI security budgets in 2025 to address these emerging threats.
Key findings from the report include a significant number of organizations failing to disclose AI-related breaches due to reputational concerns, and ongoing internal debates about which teams should oversee AI security. Additionally, the rise of "shadow AI"—AI systems used without official approval—poses a major risk, flagged by 72% of IT leaders.
The report also predicts future challenges in the AI security landscape, such as the integration of agentic AI, which could blur the lines between adversarial AI and traditional cyberattacks, and the erosion of trust in digital content due to deepfake technologies. HiddenLayer's AISec Platform aims to address these issues by providing comprehensive AI security solutions, including automated red teaming and real-time protection of AI models.
