Heartflow Sues Elucid Over Cardiac Imaging AI

Oct 27, 2026
Heartflow accuses Elucid of patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation related to its FFR-IQ cardiac imaging software.

Heartflow filed a lawsuit against Elucid alleging patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation, according to Cardiovascular Business. The complaint followed FDA approval of Elucid's FFR-IQ software, which uses AI to analyze fractional flow reserve from CT scans.

Heartflow alleges Elucid developed FFR-IQ by hiring several former Heartflow employees and accessing confidential information. The complaint also cites visual similarities between FFR-IQ and Heartflow's FFRCT Analysis software. Heartflow is seeking damages and a jury trial.

Elucid says its technology was developed independently and that it has invested in its intellectual property portfolio for more than a decade. The company plans to respond through legal channels.

Heartflow also sued Cleerly in April, alleging that the company infringed six patents related to AI software for coronary CT angiography.
