HD Hyundai and Persona AI to Develop Humanoid Welding Robots

HD Hyundai and Persona AI have signed an agreement to develop humanoid robots for shipbuilding automation, with prototypes expected by 2026.

HD Hyundai and Persona AI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop humanoid robots for shipbuilding automation, announced in a press release. The collaboration also includes HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and Vazil Company, aiming to enhance production efficiency and safety in shipyards.

The initiative will focus on creating humanoid robots capable of performing complex welding tasks. The development of these robots is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with field testing and commercialization slated for 2027. Persona AI will lead the development of the humanoid hardware and AI-based control systems, while Vazil Company will focus on welding tools and industrial testing environments.

HD Hyundai Robotics will contribute AI training data and performance validation, while HD KSOE will support deployment in live shipyard settings. This strategic partnership aims to set a new standard in shipbuilding automation by integrating advanced AI and robotic systems into the production process.
