Google Opens Android Studio Rabbit 2 to Claude and Codex
Google unveiled Android Studio Rabbit 2 with support for third party coding agents including Claude, Codex, Junie and Antigravity, according to Heise. The Agent Context Protocol lets compatible assistants access tools such as the emulator, build system and Logcat.
A Skill Manager provides prepared workflows for tasks including migrating XML views to Jetpack Compose, upgrading to AGP 9 and adding adaptive layouts. Agents can also use LeakCanary to identify memory leaks, while a review command can analyze and fix code produced by other agents.
The updated Android command line tools let agents test on external devices, inspect layouts, process profiler traces and access crash data. Google also introduced Android Bench 2, which compares the performance and cost of AI models on Android development tasks.
