Firestorm Secures STRATFI Funding to Enhance Modular Drone Systems
Firestorm Labs has been awarded the STRATFI PY25.1 funding to advance its modular unmanned aerial systems (UAS), announced in a press release. This funding, administered by AFVentures, aims to accelerate the transition of Firestorm's cutting-edge defense technology from prototype to full-scale deployment.
The funding will support the expansion of Firestorm's 3D-printed modular UAS, Air Launched Effects (ALE), and its Expeditionary Additive Manufacturing system, known as xCell. The xCell system allows warfighters to 3D-print drones, replacement parts, and mission-configured payloads directly in the field, reducing reliance on centralized factories and vulnerable supply lines.
Firestorm's Tempest 50 UAS, designed for expeditionary manufacturing, can be produced ten times faster and at one-fifth the cost of traditional drones. Its modular, software-driven design enables rapid adaptation to emerging threats, allowing for quick payload swaps for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and kinetic strike missions.
With the STRATFI funding, Firestorm plans to scale production, enhance software-driven autonomy, and accelerate field testing and operational deployment, ensuring seamless integration with Joint Force networks. This initiative aligns with the Department of Defense's goal of rapid capability fielding, providing scalable and adaptable UAS to support warfighters in demanding operational environments.
