FIA Names AWS Its AI Partner for Future F1 Rules

Oct 28, 2026
The FIA will use AWS for faster aerodynamic simulation, AI shortcuts and rulebook checks as it shapes future Formula 1 regulations.

The FIA has named Amazon Web Services its official AI, cloud computing and machine learning partner, with AI set to play a bigger part in shaping future Formula 1 aerodynamic rules, The Race reports.

The FIA will run its computational fluid dynamics work on AWS for faster, higher-fidelity simulation, layer AI shortcuts on top of those simulations, and use AI to check the rulebook itself. The simulations feed the FIA's virtual wind tunnel, where concept cars test questions such as how much downforce a car loses when following another.

Generative AI will not be used to propose design ideas for now. The priority is to speed up and support human engineers. The deal also covers improvements to the FIA's global licensing systems and its internal operations.

Work is already under way on rules for what could be all-new cars and engines in 2030.
