Eko Health's AI Stethoscope Enhances Heart Disease Detection
Eko Health has announced groundbreaking results from the TRICORDER study, which highlights the effectiveness of its AI-enabled stethoscopes in detecting heart conditions. Announced in a press release, the study was conducted by Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust across 205 NHS GP practices.
The TRICORDER study involved over 12,800 AI-stethoscope exams performed by nearly 1,000 providers, demonstrating significant improvements in the detection of heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease. Specifically, heart failure was 2.3 times more likely to be detected, atrial fibrillation 3.5 times, and valvular heart disease 1.9 times more likely compared to standard care.
These findings, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Madrid, underscore the potential of AI integration in routine exams to uncover hidden cardiac conditions. The AI-enabled stethoscopes use advanced sound technology and ECG sensors to capture heart signals, which are then analyzed in the cloud, providing instant results at the point of care.
