Einride and EASE Logistics Begin Deployment of Autonomous Electric Trucks in Ohio
Einride and EASE Logistics have begun deploying SAE Level 4 autonomous electric trucks in proof of concept service between EASE warehouses in Marysville, Ohio, announced in a press release. The initiative is part of the Truck Automation Corridor Project led by DriveOhio and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
The deployment will use two of Einride's cabless electric trucks that operate without a driver. The vehicles will navigate routes autonomously on EASE property and local public roads while a remote operator monitors operations and can intervene if required. Data collected will measure the impact of autonomous technology on warehousing, distribution, and freight efficiency.
This marks EASE Logistics' third autonomous trucking project with DriveOhio. The company is among a small number of logistics providers in the United States actively testing multiple autonomous freight systems in live operations. Einride stated that the partnership demonstrates the readiness of autonomous electric freight for daily logistics operations after several years of development and validation.
