Deerborne Survey Finds AI Cuts Analysis Workload, Not Decision Quality

The Deerborne Group said in a press release that its research examined how AI is changing management consulting for precision diagnostics and life sciences companies. The firm conducted an executive survey before ASCO 2026 and qualitative interviews with senior executives at the conference.

The research found that 62% of respondents reported a reduced analytical workload, while 54% reported no meaningful improvement in decision quality. AI lets experienced executives and smaller internal teams complete research and analysis that previously required larger consulting teams.

The report identifies domain expertise, judgment and execution as areas where consulting firms continue to provide value. These areas include clinical evidence, regulatory strategy, reimbursement, market access, laboratory operations and investment decisions.
