CoreWeave Acquires AI Agent Startup OpenPipe

CoreWeave has acquired OpenPipe, a Y Combinator-backed startup that specializes in developing customized AI agents using reinforcement learning. The acquisition was reported by TechCrunch. OpenPipe, known for its open-source toolkit ART (agent reinforcement trainer), will integrate its advanced self-learning tools with CoreWeave's high-performance AI cloud.
Brian Venturo, Co-founder of CoreWeave, stated that reinforcement learning is becoming crucial for enhancing model performance on agentic and reasoning tasks. By acquiring OpenPipe, CoreWeave aims to expand its platform, providing developers with an advantage in building scalable intelligent systems. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
OpenPipe's team will join CoreWeave, and its customers will transition to CoreWeave's services. This acquisition follows CoreWeave's recent purchase of the AI developer platform Weights & Biases, as the company continues to expand its capabilities in AI cloud infrastructure.
