Atlassian Acquires DX for $1 Billion to Enhance Developer Productivity
Atlassian has announced its acquisition of DX, a developer productivity platform, for $1 billion in cash and restricted stock, according to a press release. This acquisition marks Atlassian's largest to date and aims to integrate DX's capabilities into Atlassian's existing suite of tools, including Jira and Bitbucket.
DX, founded five years ago, provides enterprises with insights into engineering team productivity and helps identify bottlenecks. The platform will be integrated into Atlassian's System of Work, offering customers enhanced visibility into AI investments and developer productivity. Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes emphasized the importance of understanding AI's impact on productivity, stating that the acquisition will help their 300,000+ customers make informed decisions in the AI era.
The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of Atlassian's fiscal year 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. This acquisition follows Atlassian's recent purchase of The Browser Company, further expanding its capabilities in AI and productivity tools.
