Anysphere, the developer of the AI code editor Cursor, is considering a new funding round that could double its valuation to between $18 billion and $20 billion, according to Bloomberg. This potential deal comes shortly after the startup surpassed $500 million in annualized revenue.

Despite the interest from investors, Anysphere's CEO, Michael Truell, stated that the company has not engaged in discussions about financing since their Series C round. Truell emphasized that the company is focused on enhancing its technology, product, and team rather than fundraising.

Earlier this month, Anysphere raised $900 million at a valuation of $9.9 billion in a round led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global. The company's AI tool, Cursor, is used by major companies like OpenAI, Spotify, and Major League Baseball, and is known for its ability to assist both novice and experienced programmers by suggesting lines of code.
