Anthropic Unveils Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Code
Anthropic has introduced its latest AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and a new coding tool, Claude Code, announced in a press release. Claude 3.7 Sonnet is described as the first hybrid reasoning model on the market, capable of providing both quick responses and extended, step-by-step reasoning. This model is available across all Claude plans and platforms, including Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud's Vertex AI.
Claude 3.7 Sonnet shows significant improvements in coding and front-end web development. It offers users the ability to control the model's thinking duration, allowing for a balance between speed and quality of responses. The model maintains the same pricing as its predecessors, with extended thinking mode available on all tiers except the free one.
Alongside Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Anthropic has launched Claude Code, an agentic coding tool available in a limited research preview. This tool allows developers to delegate substantial engineering tasks directly from their terminal, significantly reducing development time. Early testing has shown that Claude Code can complete tasks in a single pass that would typically take over 45 minutes of manual work.
