The agreement includes sharing Anthropic's Economic Index data and collaborating with Australian institutions on research and workforce development.
Anthropic Signs AI Collaboration Agreement with Australian Government

The Anthropic and the Australian Government have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance collaboration on artificial intelligence opportunities, according to a publication by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.

Under the agreement, Anthropic will share its Economic Index data with the Australian government to support tracking of AI adoption and its effects on productivity and employment. The company will also work with institutions such as Australia’s AI Safety Institute to conduct joint safety evaluations and research on emerging AI capabilities and risks.

Anthropic plans to explore expanding its operations in Australia, including investments in data centre and energy infrastructure. The memorandum also outlines cooperation on supply chain security and support for domestic startups, education, and workforce training.

The document was signed on April 1, 2026, by Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, and Senator Tim Ayres, representing the Australian Government’s Department of Industry, Science and Resources.
