Ambiq Unveils Apollo330 Plus SoCs for Edge AI
Ambiq has introduced the Apollo330 Plus series of System-on-Chips (SoCs), designed to enhance edge AI processing with ultra-low power consumption, announced in a press release. The series includes the Apollo330 Plus, Apollo330B Plus, and Apollo330M Plus, each offering various connectivity options for applications in healthcare, smart homes, and industrial edge environments.
The Apollo330 Plus series features an Arm Cortex-M55 application processor with turboSPOT and Arm Helium technology, achieving up to 250 MHz. It also includes a 48/96 MHz Arm Cortex-M4F network processor and multi-protocol radio in wireless models. These SoCs deliver over 16 times faster performance and 30 times better AI energy efficiency compared to previous Cortex-M processors.
The series supports multiple connectivity options such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Matter, and Thread, enabling diverse edge device applications. The Apollo330 Plus architecture leverages Arm Helium technology for AI acceleration, processing up to 8 MACs per cycle, and includes 2MB of on-chip RAM and embedded non-volatile memory.
Ambiq's CEO, Fumihide Esaka, highlighted the potential of the Apollo330 Plus series to enable true edge AI processing, allowing manufacturers to create more responsive and intelligent devices. The series also incorporates secureSPOT 3.0 features based on Arm TrustZone technology, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality for connected devices.
