Allora Labs Publishes Research on Mutated AI Model Swarms

Allora Labs published research arguing that deliberately mutated AI model populations can adapt better when conditions change, with the best mutated swarm outperforming optimized swarms about 80% of the time.

Allora Labs said in a press release that its Chief Scientist has published a paper on AI model populations that use deliberate genetic mutations. The paper, titled "Flawed in Nature, Perfect through Evolution," appears in the journal Allora Decentralized Intelligence.

The research says that current AI systems can lose performance when conditions differ from the data used to train them. It models a population of AI systems where individual models are intentionally made worse through random mutations.

The paper argues that this variation can improve group performance when conditions change. Allora Labs says the best model in the mutated swarm outperforms the best model in an optimized swarm about 80% of the time under changing conditions.
