Aechelon Technology has been selected to provide the baseline Open Geospatial Consortium Common Database for the U.S. Air Force's SCARS program, establishing the core geospatial foundation for unified simulation environments.

Aechelon Technology has been selected to deliver the baseline Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Common Database (CDB) for the U.S. Air Force's Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) program, announced in a press release.

The SCARS initiative aims to create a unified, open-architecture simulation environment across the Air Force, improving interoperability and integration across training systems. Aechelon’s database will serve as the authoritative geospatial foundation, ensuring consistent data across multiple simulation and training platforms.

The company said the project builds on its technology roadmap, which includes Project Orbion, an AI-enabled digital twin of Earth that integrates real-time satellite imagery, radar data, and photogrammetry into a continuously updated 3D environment. Project Orbion operates on Aechelon’s Skybeam platform and supports defense, disaster response, and autonomous system training applications.

Aechelon specializes in geospatial and visual simulation solutions used in flight simulators and sensor AI training for both defense and civilian applications.
