Willow Makes Dictation Free With Frontier Pro and Mini

Willow has made its dictation product free and introduced Willow Frontier Pro and Willow Frontier Mini, the company detailed in a blog post. The July 7 post says Frontier Pro is built to reduce editing after dictation, while Frontier Mini uses the same basic architecture with a smaller edit path for broader free access.

The product pipeline starts with speech recognition, then uses an edit model to turn raw speech into finished text. The edit model handles punctuation, capitalization, paragraph breaks, names, glossary terms, code, technical vocabulary, app specific writing conventions, and prior accepted edits.

The company says Frontier Pro returned output faster than the paid dictation tools it tested, and Frontier Mini also beat every comparison tool on output latency. Engineering work focused on compression, the handoff between speech recognition and the edit pass, routing removal, and where services run.

Frontier Pro is optimized for the lowest edit rate. Frontier Mini is optimized for universal access, with a smaller and faster edit path that Willow says is efficient enough to offer for free.
