Williams-Sonoma Joins OpenAI’s Ad Pilot in ChatGPT
Williams-Sonoma, Inc. announced in a press release that it is partnering with OpenAI to participate in the Ad Pilot Program for ChatGPT, becoming one of the first companies to test advertisements within the chatbot. The initiative will allow the retailer to explore how ads can appear during user interactions while maintaining a clear and trusted experience.
As part of the program, Williams-Sonoma will test ways to reach customers at decision-making moments, surfacing relevant products in ChatGPT conversations. The company said the ads will be clearly labeled and will not influence ChatGPT’s responses.
Williams-Sonoma noted that it has previously integrated artificial intelligence across its operations, including merchandising, supply chain, and customer service. The collaboration with OpenAI extends that approach to digital marketing, aiming to better understand how conversational AI can support product discovery and engagement.
