WAIC 2026 Highlights Shift Toward AI Native Organizations

At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, speakers defined 'AI Native' enterprises as those built around AI at the structural level rather than adopting tools piecemeal, signaling a new phase of business transformation.

At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference Entrepreneurs' Forum in Shanghai, leaders from business and academia discussed the emergence of the AI Native organization, according to a press release. The concept was presented as a comprehensive reinvention of how enterprises are structured and operated, moving beyond the adoption of isolated AI tools.

Speakers addressed three main questions for enterprise AI transformation related to strategy, tactics, and value. They described AI Native organizations as those integrating AI into their fundamental systems rather than attaching it to existing frameworks. This includes designing organizational structures around AI workflows, measuring employee capability based on human and AI collaboration efficiency, and embedding AI participation in decision making.

Participants such as Zeng Ming, representatives from L'Oréal, and Haier contributed to discussions that marked AI transformation as a board-level focus. Deloitte's Tech Trends 2026 report was cited at the event, describing the shift as "The Great Rebuild," where enterprises are reorganizing both IT and business operations to function natively on AI foundations.
