Vermeer Raises $10 Million Series A to Expand GPS-Free Navigation Tech
Vermeer, a defense technology startup based in New York with operations in Kyiv, announced the close of its $10 million Series A funding round in a press release. The round was led by Draper Associates and included participation from AeroX Ventures, Boscolo Intervest, High Point Ventures, Rockaway Ventures, and the U.S. Air Force Tech Stars program.
Vermeer develops a Visual Positioning System (VPS) that enables drones and other aerial vehicles to navigate without GPS, maintaining accuracy even when satellite signals are jammed or spoofed. The technology is used by partners including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.
The company plans to use the investment to scale its optical navigation platform for both defense and commercial applications and to expand partnerships with the U.S. military, NATO allies, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vermeer has grown from 10 to 40 employees in the past year following participation in the U.S. Air Force Tech Stars accelerator, where it secured over $7 million in government grants and non-dilutive capital.
